EUIC 2025: Pokémon’s Biggest Event Keeps Getting Bigger

The 2025 Pokémon Europe International Championships (EUIC 2025) remain a major highlight in the Pokémon competitive scene, bringing together players and fans from around the world. Em Stonham, who attended the event on behalf of DotESports, shared insights into how these tournaments are evolving and the challenges of organizing such a large-scale competition, whilst sitting down with Chris Brown, Director, Global Esports and Events Producer at Pokémon.

Chris explained that each Pokémon game presents unique logistical challenges. For example, Pokémon Go requires significant investment in specialized equipment, while Video Game Championship (VGC) events depend on a stable network connection. Meanwhile, Trading Card Game (TCG) events demand careful time management, a well-structured bracket system, and sufficient staffing to ensure smooth operations.

Another key challenge is managing event venues and crowd capacity. As EUIC continues to expand, organizers are exploring ways to accommodate growth while maintaining a high-quality experience. Brown highlighted this ongoing effort, stating, “We’re always trying to think … Hey, how do we hit 20 to 30 percent growth?”

Beyond the competitive aspect, providing engaging experiences for all attendees has become a priority. Brown emphasized the importance of catering to casual fans, families of competitive players, and visitors simply looking to explore the Pokémon Center and other attractions.

EUIC 2025 featured a variety of standout activities, including Pokémon TCG artist signings, panel discussions, and interactive experiences such as origami workshops, face painting, and fairground-style games. These offerings helped create an inclusive and dynamic atmosphere, ensuring that both competitive players and casual attendees could fully immerse themselves in the Pokémon experience.

Looking at the bigger picture, Brown highlighted the event’s broader mission: “The brand is so rich, and there’s so much we can do with it… Our mission is to bring the world together through Pokémon, and increasingly, the event’s mission is to bring the world of Pokémon together.”

As Em Stonham reported, EUIC continues to evolve in exciting ways. With ongoing efforts to foster growth and inclusivity, these events are set to become even more expansive and welcoming, offering something special for every Pokémon fan.
