RoosterTeeth Brand Returns with Founder Burnie Burns

Burnie Burns, founder of RoosterTeeth and entrepreneur, along with his wife and former “The Know” host Ashley Burns, have announced their acquisition of the RoosterTeeth brand through their production company, Box Canyon Productions. The announcement was made on their podcast, “Morning Somewhere.”

The acquisition pertains strictly to the brand and does not include the company itself—meaning assets such as buildings, equipment, and other infrastructure remain separate. Additionally, Box Canyon Productions has not acquired RWBY, Achievement Hunter, or other properties owned by Viz Media. However, the acquisition does include RoosterTeeth’s social media accounts, website, YouTube channels, and other digital assets.

Box Canyon Productions has stated its intention to revive “classic” Rooster Teeth shows and reimagine “The Schedule,” Burnie Burns’ first film from 1997, in collaboration with former Rooster Teeth executive Matt Hullum. Further details on upcoming projects remain to be determined, with releases tentatively scheduled for late May to summer 2025.

Burnie Burns has also announced that a Q&A session regarding the acquisition will be held on the “Morning Somewhere” podcast on February 8th and 9th, with the discussion made publicly available thereafter. Both Burnie and Ashley have urged the public to refrain from contacting or harassing former Rooster Teeth employees, as they are not involved in this agreement.
