In a move that surprised more fans, WWE has announced that the theme music for this month’s “Bash in Berlin” will feature a song by the German electronicore/party metal band Electric Callboy. The track, titled “RATATATA,” also includes the popular (and sometimes divisive) kawaii metal band Babymetal.
While there are undoubtedly more iconic metal options for an event set in Berlin—bands like Rammstein, Scorpions, Kreator, Accept, and Blind Guardian come to mind—this choice is sure to resonate with a younger audience and generate buzz. WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, known for his love of metal, has once again made a bold and interesting pick with RATATATA. Perhaps someone will literally use their body, as a weapon?
For those who have been following WWE, it’s clear that the company has been on an upswing since Vince McMahon’s departure. With former wrestlers now in key leadership roles, WWE has become more worker-friendly and is delivering storylines that appeal across generations. Add to that the massive Netflix deal set to begin in 2025, and it’s evident that WWE is entering a new and exciting era.
“Bash in Berlin” marks WWE’s first-ever premium live event in Germany, featuring a stacked card in the wake of “Summerslam.” Fans can look forward to matches with Gunther, Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Cody Rhodes, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, and many others.
While WWE has a history of featuring metal bands in its events—previous choices include Motörhead, Code Orange, Limp Bizkit, and even Metallica—this collaboration is certainly one of the more unconventional picks. You can catch “Bash in Berlin” on Saturday, August 31, via Peacock or the WWE Network. Fans in Germany can also try to secure tickets to attend the event in person at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin.
