Nintendo Announces GameCube Games – Exclusively for Switch 2

During the April 2 Nintendo Direct showcase, Nintendo revealed that GameCube games will finally join the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack lineup—but with a twist. These beloved classics will be available exclusively on the upcoming Switch 2, marking a major milestone for the subscription service.

What’s Coming to Switch Online + Expansion Pack?

The first wave of GameCube titles arrives on June 5, 2025, featuring:

  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003) – The cel-shaded adventure that redefined Zelda’s art style.
  • F-Zero GX (2003) – A high-speed futuristic racer with enhanced visuals.
  • Soulcalibur II (2002) – The acclaimed fighting game, now with sharper resolution.

Additional GameCube classics are confirmed for future release, including:

  • Super Mario Sunshine
  • Luigi’s Mansion
  • Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
  • Pokémon Colosseum & Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness
  • Super Mario Strikers
  • Chibi-Robo!

A Long-Awaited Addition

Fans have eagerly anticipated GameCube games on Switch Online, as many of these titles were previously locked to the 2001 console. The Expansion Pack already offers N64, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy Advance games, but this upgrade makes the service even more compelling—especially for Switch 2 owners.

New Wireless GameCube Controller

To enhance the experience, Nintendo will launch a wireless GameCube controller on June 5, designed specifically for Switch 2. Exclusive to Switch Online members, it retains the classic layout while adding a C button for quick access to in-game chat.

What’s Next?

With more GameCube games on the way and the Switch 2 launch approaching, Nintendo is delivering a major win for retro gaming fans. Will Melee or Eternal Darkness make the cut next? Only time will tell.

Stay tuned for updates—and get ready to relive the GameCube era like never before!
