McKenzie Mitchell is back in TNA Wrestling. She made her return at last month’s Genesis event, replacing Jade Chung as the ring announcer. On Tuesday, TNA officially announced that Mitchell has signed a deal to continue in the role moving forward.
Mitchell is no stranger to TNA. She first worked with the company as a backstage interviewer from 2016 to 2019 before signing with WWE. During her time there, she became a familiar face on the NXT brand before being released in December 2023.
Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Mitchell reflected on how her time in TNA helped shape her career.
“I’m thankful I started my career in TNA. It gave me the foundation to grow before moving to WWE.”
Now stepping into the role of ring announcer, Mitchell acknowledges the transition is a new challenge. She explained the key differences between being a backstage interviewer and announcing in the ring.
“As a backstage correspondent, you’re conversational, building rapport with talent and the audience. As a ring announcer, it’s about projecting your voice in a completely different way.”
To prepare for the role, she has been training with a vocal coach, working on projection and stamina.
“Being a ring announcer is almost athletic—you have to pull from your stomach, chest, and throat to project properly.”
Mitchell’s return comes at an exciting time for TNA. The company is set to present a live Impact episode this Thursday from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida—the former home of NXT. The following day, they will return to the venue for a set of television tapings.
With her experience and enthusiasm, Mitchell’s return adds to the momentum of TNA’s resurgence. Fans can expect to hear McKenzie Mitchell voice announcing the action for the foreseeable future as TNA continues to rebuild and grow.
